View product pdf format
This system covers engine operation, engine performance and emission
controls. The panel contains exercises with the computer-controlled
inputs and outputs. It also provides dynamic demonstration of engine
torque and horsepower ratios. The effects of individual engine sensors
and engine controls on engine performance and emissions can be demonstrated
under different operating conditions. Ambient temperature and altitude
controls are provided to show environmental effects on engine operation
and performance. The instructor can insert malfunctions, simulating
customer complaints and problems that occur daily in the work area.
System components include:
Built-in digital multimeter
Air injection management system
Knock sensor
Throttle body fuel injection
Oxygen sensor
Idle air control system
Throttle position sensor
Engine coolant meter
MAP sensor
Engine RPM meter
Coolant temperature sensor
Emissions meter
EGR system
The instructor can insert malfunctions in electrical or mechanical
components. Experiments and troubleshooting exercises develop the
necessary problem-solving skills and diagnostic procedures for automotive
technicians today.
These exercises include:
Operation and function of major computer output actuators
Detection and repair of exhaust gas recirculation valve when stuck
closed and open
Operation and function of major input sensors
Detection and repair of worn and leaking rings
Detection and repair of shorted and/or open sensors: coolant temperature,
air charge temperature, manifold absolute pressure, throttle position,
air preheat solenoid, idle air control, and exhaust gas oxygen
Detection and repair of air control bypass valve when stuck in bypass
and in conventional position
Detection and repair of clogged fuel injector and low pressure fuel
pressure regulator
Detection and repair of improperly seated valves
