Baseband Transmission and Synchronization
Innovative Technologies in Education (ITE)
The baseband transmission & synchronization module will consist
of various techniques of baseband data transmission currently used
in digital communications systems. Data signals should be converted
into Baseband sequence of data symbols. Specifically, 2B1Q and AMI/TBC
coders will be studied. The module contains a transmission channel,
a receiver and two different time recovery synchronization circuits.
RECOMMENDED EXPERIMENTS
1. Twined Binary Code - Spectral shaping by TBC precoding 2. AMI
Code - error propagation - differential coding 3. Comparison of
AMI with 4-level PAM (2B1Q) - sensitivity to DC/AC coupling - line
polarity sensitivity - bandwidth - synchronization 4. Intersymbol
Interference (ISI) & Eye Pattern - eye patterns for various
bandwidths with AMI and 2B1Q codes 5. Time recovery with squaring
circuit 6. Time recovery with zero crossing circuit 7. AMI noise
performance 8. 2B1Q noise performance 9. Timing Recovery Performance
